He is now managing one for himself in Portland, the Crystal, and will try to bring in what is called 'a heavy band' once a month. The Sopwith Camel is a heavy band.
Magaurn emphasises that the Crystal is neither a hippy hangout nor a teen-age haunt. Both groups are welcome, but so is everyone else. At curfew time a friendly lady sees to it that nobody gets into curfew trouble on the premises by sending them off the premises.
That weekend with the Sopwith Camel will also be The Tweedy Brothers and the Wild, Wild Weeds, both local and both heavy. Coming up at the Crystal: The Byrds, The Greatful Dead, and The Music Machine. The dances naturally include a light show, because you don't have a dance without a light show."Light Into Asheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06943335142002007213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6667800298422570910.post-13111256051319975612016-07-28T11:30:22.172-07:002016-07-28T11:30:22.172-07:00I used to go there every weekend. The Psychedelic Shop was right around the corner. They used to plaster the handbills and posters everywhere. The Avalon Ballroom was another venue. I hope this helps.
